The Living Legend award was given to Lenny for for his contribution to modern Latin music, and his role in revolutionizing the Bachata genre. Lenny Santos played a crucial role in originating the sound that we all know today as “Urban Bachata” as a member of the teen group Los Teenagers now better known as the group Aventura.
It was there that he developed the passion for music with members of Aventura Romeo Santos, Henry Santos and his younger brother Mike Santos also known as Max Agende. While Lenny and Mike’s father tried to do the best in being part of the boys lives, the boys attribute their success to their beacon of guidance. “[Mom] was the mother and father of the house,” said Lenny. “As a single mom raising six kids, she really represented.” (source: NocheLAtina.Com)
While the group Aventura has temporarily disbanded until 2013, this has not slowed down Lenny’s hand in the music business, he has his hands in a number of projects as a producer and in 2011 along with Max Agende formed the group “D’Element”.
Followed by a performance by him and his new band Vena: D’Element Project. Rumors of Vena had been circulating on twitter and face-book for a few weeks of the addition of front-man Steve Styles from the famous Bachata Group XTREME, but the official announcement was made tonight on October 11th with their first performance.
Congratulations to one of Modern bachata’s most influential characters Lenny Santos from all of us at ThatsDominican.com!
