LOVE CHILD is the first film directed by a Dominican woman (Leticia Tonos) and it is the DOMINICAN REPUBLIC’S OFFICIAL SUBMISSION TO THE 84th ACADEMY AWARDS® FOR BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE PICTURE.
This magical film was awarded an Audience Choice Award at the 27th Chicago Latino Film Festival, Best International Feature at Festival de Cine de San José and Audience Choice Award at the Global Film Festival.

La Hija Natural – The Love Child
Starring Julietta Rodríguez, (María), Víctor Checo, (Joaquín), Andrés Ramos, (Justiniano), Gastner Legerme, (Polo Montiff), Frank Perozo, (Bar’s Owner), Jochy Santos, Dionis Rufino, (Mélido), Kalent Zalz and pop singer Vickiana is a magical adventure into the Dominican mysticism, with a believable story. It premiered in the Dominican Republic this March 31st, 2011, at the Palacio Del Cine in Santo Domingo. The film is 1 hour, 35 minutes long.
The production was introduced at the Festival De Cine Latino in Chicago, which took place from the 1st to the 7th of April, and it will be featured at the Festival De Cine De Las Américas, in Austin, Texas, on April 26th.
‘La Hija Natural’ is a Dominican-Puerto Rican co-production that tells the tale of María, whom after her mother’s death decides to find her estranged father, whom she’s never met. He lives in a God-forgotten and quite superstitious town in the Dominican Republic. Now they both will have to make amends and fight the ghosts from the past that harass them in the old house where they live.
