12 dead over 300 affected in Dominican Republic

The Dominican Newspaper “HOY” reported that over the Easter holiday celebration in the Dominican Republic 12 people died and hundreds others were injured or affected due to the celebrations. 9 of the dead were caused by traffic accidents while 2 died of alcohol poisoning and the final casualty of the 12 was due to drowning.

Due to these scary statistics a campaign was started this weekend to try to prevent accidents. Dominican Republic is known for its dangerous roads and traffic conditions, and drinking while driving largely goes without any punishment if any at all.
